The Fringe's 'Nik & Stu' are back, and just in time for Christmas!

CHRISTMAS is just two and a half weeks away, and there are plenty of Edmontonians not yet in the holiday spirit (trust me on this one!), so what better to get those Scrooges in the mood than a local play about the "shittiest Christmas ever"?!

"Two adorable kids are putting on a Christmas pageant when the director dies suddenly," describes catchthekeys.ca. "In order to save Christmas, twelve baby Jesus' have to perform twelve Christmas miracles in only twelve days. Only one thing is certain: after Nik & Stu's Shittiest Christmas Ever, Christmas will never be the same again."

The one night only show is a "raucous sequel" to Nik & Stu: Counting Leaves, which was a hit at the Edmonton International Fringe Festival. According to the show's organizers, guests can look forward to a "night you won't soon forget," with a list of "surprise" entertainers, musical guest The Dark Sand, and...uh...a "giant vagina"!

Did You Know? (Boston Pizza)

e A LTHOUGH the name may lead you to believe otherwise, the Canadian staple of Boston Pizza was conceived right here in the city of Edmonton. Greek immigrant Gus Agioritis opened the doors to Boston Pizza & Spaghetti House back in 1964, with almost no experience in the restaurant business, but by 1970 there were 17 BP locations (15 franchised) in Western Canada. In 1968 RCMP officer Jim Treliving (of Dragon's Den ) established the first Boston Pizza franchise, in Penticton, B.C. Along with partner George Melville , Treliving was instrumental in the rise of the pizza (etc.) chain, which now has over 370 restaurants throughout North America (known as Boston's The Gourmet Pizza in the U.S.), including two in Mexico.
