Antique books, sheet music, beaded jewelry...Belgravia has it all, but you just gotta find it! BY EMIL TIEDEMANN F OR a dozen years now Belgravia Books & Treasures has sat on the corner of 76th Ave. and 115th St., but it was only yesterday (Oct. 31st) that I walked inside. Before I stepped in though, I shuffled through the "on-sale" assortment of books and CDs sitting in boxes on top of old wooden chairs, just outside the doors of the covert book shop. When I entered the actual store I was bombarded with a generous and ever-changing selection of "rare, recent, and out-of-print books, antiques and curios, framed paintings and prints." There were books everywhere you looked, in rows on ill-assorted shelves, on tables in the middle of the cozy room, and behind the cluttered counter. There were just as many paperbacks as there were hardcovers, and almost all were "next-to-new," and some that you could tell were pretty vintage, including children's boo...

Discount book store offers something that others don't! BY EMIL TIEDEMANN Tucked away just off Jasper Ave. and 103 St. is an alternative to the convenient Wee Book Inn's that are scattered throughout town, called The Book Outlet . There's no adult-only section, or an assortment of CDs, DVDs or magazines, or even one of those long-haired cats roaming the aisles, but the Outlet does offer something that Wee Book's don't, and that's a decent choice of titles in near-perfect condition, at lower prices! According to the friendly gentleman behind the counter, testing his Solitaire skills on the computer, the books that they recieve on a daily basis are immediately discounted by at least 50% from the cover price, and many are lowered even further, to as low as a single loonie! They are able to do so because these are titles unsold by major chain outlets like Chapters and Coles Books. These "remainders" and "returns" are purchased at low costs in ord...
