IT'S that time of year again, when the malls fill up with eager and frantic Christmas shoppers, scrambling to check off each name on their gift lists. Many, such as myself, have no idea what to get, probing the countless shops of the local mall to find something other than what the recipients might come to expect. Who wants to spend a weekend at West Ed a month before the big day?!
Well, you don't have to! That's because Jenna & Chandler Herbut are returning to Edmonton for the fifth annual 'Make It! The Handmade Revolution,' which will take over the Alberta Aviation Museum hangar from Thursday (Nov. 25) to Sunday (Nov. 28).
More than 120 of Canada's hottest urban designers and artisans will be selling handmade, one-of-a-kind items, all the while listening to the sounds of live local DJs. For only $5 at the door (kids under 12 are free) anyone is welcome to check out unique indie creations in fashion, art, home decor, jewelry, accessories, and more, from Edmonton and around the country.
Despite it being one of the coldest weekends ever, over 4,000 Edmontonians attended last year's 3-day event, and more than 5,500 walked through the doors of the Vancouver chapter last weekend. This weekend the brother and sister team hope to surpass those numbers.
The first 25 shoppers will receive a free gift bag on each of the four days. For a $2 off coupon check out Make It's official website. For a complete list of this year's exhibitors/ vendors click here, and you can visit the show's Facebook or Twitter pages for more information. Parking is free.
