Summer's not over yet, and August has plenty to offer Edmontonians...

 TECHNICALLY, summer goes on well into September. Mentally, summer ends with the last days of August. And so, you may have that urge to take advantage of these "final four" weeks and get in as much of Edmonton's vast and diverse summer traditions as possible. 

 So, because I heart you guys so much, I have gathered up a list of more than 50 exciting events going down in and around E-town during the month of August. However, these are only those special and/or annual events happening in the Capital Region, so don't forget that there are always countless of other daily, weekly, or monthly events going on in and around the city as well! #yeglove

Did You Know? (Boston Pizza)

e A LTHOUGH the name may lead you to believe otherwise, the Canadian staple of Boston Pizza was conceived right here in the city of Edmonton. Greek immigrant Gus Agioritis opened the doors to Boston Pizza & Spaghetti House back in 1964, with almost no experience in the restaurant business, but by 1970 there were 17 BP locations (15 franchised) in Western Canada. In 1968 RCMP officer Jim Treliving (of Dragon's Den ) established the first Boston Pizza franchise, in Penticton, B.C. Along with partner George Melville , Treliving was instrumental in the rise of the pizza (etc.) chain, which now has over 370 restaurants throughout North America (known as Boston's The Gourmet Pizza in the U.S.), including two in Mexico. There are currently 22 BP locations in Edmonton alone. e
