The third annual Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo will take over the Edmonton Expo Centre later this month, and has invited many famous names to take part

THE 3-day Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo (a.k.a. the Edmonton Expo) is the City of Champion's greatest pop culture convention with a year two attendance of 25,000 people. Going into our year three show we'll be creating another out-of-this-world event with comic book artists, vendors, media guests, and of course, lots and lots of cosplay!

The Expo, which will take place at the Edmonton Expo Centre (7515-118 Avenue) from September 26 to 28, will feature appearances by some of your favourite television and movie stars, including Alice Cooper, Dean Cain, Noah Wyle (ER), Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal), Amy Acker (Angel), Rachel Skarsten (The Vow), Lawrence Gilliard, Jr. (The Walking Dead), and The Big Bang Theory's Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar. In addition to all the famous faces, you'll have a chance to meet some of the most talented and celebrated artists in the industry, including the creative geniuses behind BioWare, He-Man, Scooby Doo, Tanpopo, Amazing Spider-Man, Lego, Transformers, X-Men, and so much more. 

 Tickets for the Expo are available through Ticketmaster or at the door, and can be purchased for single days or 3-day packs, though children 7 and under have free access. VIP passes are sold out.

Did You Know? (Boston Pizza)

e A LTHOUGH the name may lead you to believe otherwise, the Canadian staple of Boston Pizza was conceived right here in the city of Edmonton. Greek immigrant Gus Agioritis opened the doors to Boston Pizza & Spaghetti House back in 1964, with almost no experience in the restaurant business, but by 1970 there were 17 BP locations (15 franchised) in Western Canada. In 1968 RCMP officer Jim Treliving (of Dragon's Den ) established the first Boston Pizza franchise, in Penticton, B.C. Along with partner George Melville , Treliving was instrumental in the rise of the pizza (etc.) chain, which now has over 370 restaurants throughout North America (known as Boston's The Gourmet Pizza in the U.S.), including two in Mexico.
