SMARTPHONES have become a part of our daily lives, whether we like it or not. We use them to snap pictures of what we're about to stuff down our gullets; we use them to show our annoyed table guests YouTube clips of cats beating up dogs; we use them as flashlights to guide us through our apartments for those midnight pee sessions; sometimes we even use them to call people!

Friday, August 21st is 'Social Media Night' as the Edmonton Eskimos take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Commonwealth Stadium!

So that means that they're with us pretty much everywhere we go...and I mean everywhere! But what doesn't tag alongside us is that elusive complimentary Wi-Fi service, allowing us to Instagram our altered selfies or Tweet about how much we hate people who Instagram altered selfies, and all for FREE!

This installation will now be a part of the Edmonton Eskimos experience, as the team teams up with TELUS to offer free Wi-Fi service throughout Commonwealth Stadium! This $2.1 million project will allow anyone who attends an Eskimos game (or a Stadium concert) free access to the world wide web, regardless of your service provider.

"This is a major strategic investment," says Len Rhodes, President and CEO of the Edmonton Eskimos Football Club. "We have a commitment to use the latest technology to engage with our fans and give them the best experience possible.

"This joint investment with TELUS allows us to activate many of the in-game features our fans want to use on their smartphones and devices while they watch live game action in the home of the Edmonton Eskimos."

Be sure to use the #AllHeartEsks at tonight's game for your chance to win prizes!

The free Wi-Fi initiative kicks off TONIGHT - "Social Media Night" - as the Eskimos take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, so bring along your smartphones and tablets, sign into your social media platforms, and share your game-day experience with the rest of Edmonton!

"Whether it's checking the web for stats and rosters or sharing the excitement of the game on social media, smartphones have become an integral part of the football experience," says Nicholas Cartmell, TELUS' Senior Director of Government Relations and Strategic Initiatives. "TELUS has deep roots in Edmonton and this partnership ensures that our customers and neighbours here have access to the most advanced technology as they are cheering on the Eskimos."

Using the Eskimos app from the Stadium, fans can enter contests and even have team apparel delivered right to their seats! The team also encourages ticketholders to enter TELUS' #AllHeartEsks Fan Photo Contest in order to be featured on the giant high-definition video board and to win some amazing prizes, or you can "Tweet Your Beats" to select what music should be played at the Stadium!

As for your beers, you'll have to get up and grab those for yourselves. See you at the game, and don't forget to wear your jerseys! #AllHeartEsks

Thanks to TELUS, all Esks fans have access to free Wi-Fi at the Stadium!
