Over the Top Swap 2011
THE other day at work I wore a Doors T-shirt that my buddy had intended to toss out, simply because he'd begun to stretch Mr. Morrison's facial features beyond recognition. If you're in the same boat, exaggerating the threads of your old shirts or pants, then you've now got another option, rather than re-gifting 'em to your thinner friends.

Anyone is welcome to bring in their "no longer needed, but still fashionable" clothing and accessories to swap for "swap tokens," which can then be traded in for anything from the swap. Not a penny spent! It's called Over the Top Swap, and it's Edmonton's only city-wide premium clothing swap for both men and women, now in its second year.

"You'll be able to find one-of-a-kind clothing gems and feel the rush of a shopping spree; all the while going easy on your wallet," says the event's organizers. "It's one of the more affordable ways to upgrade your wardrobe."

The two-day swap will also offer a bustling marketplace (featuring members of the Handmade Mafia, Edmonton's only monthly craft market), on-site wellness, beauty & health services (including massages, complimentary hairstyling, and makeovers!), a fashion show, djs, food & drinks, and more. All within the concourse, club house, and executive box seats over at Telus Field, in the heart of the river valley. Proceeds from purchased tokens go directly to the event's volunteer operations and various charities, including the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Bissel Centre.

Tickets for the Over the Top Swap range from $10-$25 (free admission for children under 12), though you can receive $5 off regular admission by dropping your clothes off early. For more information on early drop-off registration click here. See you there!

  1. Never heard of that kind of a clothing "sale" before. Sounds very interesting...but I guess it's not the first time they've done it in Edmonton.
