Ehrich's main goal is to find his brother. Instead, he finds a medallion leading to a woman wrapped up in inter-dimensional intrigue and brings Ehrich along for the ride as he tries to figure out who he can trust, find his brother, and get back home.
Demon Gate is the first teen fantasy novel from accomplished Edmonton author Marty Chan. Chan is best known for his playwriting, as well as several picture books and novels for children. A former Edmonton Public Writer-in-Residence, Chan is the recipient of an Arts Achievement Award and a Performance Award from the City of Edmonton.
The steampunk theme of the novel is very cool. The action and the chapters are very fast-paced, but sometimes I had a difficult time keeping track of everything that was going on. There are a lot of battles and adventures, with something exciting happening on almost every page, and new characters introduced throughout the novel.
Demon Gate is the first book in The Ehrich Weisz Chronicles. The next book, Infinity Coil, is scheduled to be published in the fall of 2014. Demon Gate is on sale now and retails for $12.95.
